Anything free?
Around Marseille, almost everything on Poteau is played at a center. The exception: Stade Gilles Joye, in Éguilles. Games there are free most of the time, mostly on Mondays.
Across France, 9 in 10 games set up on a public field are free. To find one near you, there is Data ES (equipements.sports.gouv.fr), France's official sports facility database.
The capital works differently: free soccer in Paris.
No team? Join an open game
On Poteau, close to half of player-run games are short only one or two people. You see the price, the open spots and who's already in. You sign up without knowing anyone.
As long as you're the only one signed up, the game happens half the time. With a second player, 8 times out of 10. The second person to join is often the one who makes it real.
The organizer's number is on their profile before the game. Handy for finding the entrance.
Picking the right level
Almost every player-run game shows the level it expects. About 1 in 5 welcomes levels 1 to 4, so beginners too.
If you don't know where you stand, the level quiz scores you from 1 to 10.
